Barrière launches Responsible Gaming Week across all its casinos
From June 23 to 29, 2025, the Barrière Group will be mobilizing all of its gaming establishments around a unique initiative: Responsible Gaming Week. The aim is to raise customer awareness of the risks associated with excessive gambling through a program of actions carried out with the support of Addiction Treatment and Prevention Centers (CSAPA).
A pioneer in prevention, Barrière was one of the first casino groups in France to address the issue of excessive gambling. In 2009, it introduced a unique Voluntary Access Restriction program, which has since become a regulatory standard recognized by the ANJ (the French National Gaming Authority).
Through Responsible Gaming Week, the Group aims to reaffirm its commitment and strengthen prevention among players to ensure a safe gaming experience.
This week's program includes:
An internal webinar for all Group employees, featuring a psychologist specializing in supporting excessive gamblers. This discussion will be an opportunity to talk about the psychology of gamblers, focusing on recreational and excessive gambling, and to see how to identify risky gambling behavior in the field.
Setting up dedicated prevention areas in Barrière casinos, in collaboration with a local CSAPA (Center for Addiction Prevention and Care). The goal is to inform customers about the risks associated with excessive gambling and refer them to support services if necessary.
Organization of prevention cocktails in the Group's gaming establishments, attended by establishment managers and Responsible Gaming advisors to communicate the approach and inform players about the tools put in place by Barrière to help them manage their gaming.
For Joy Desseigne-Barrière, co-chair of the Barrière Group and chair of the National Responsible Gaming Commission, this dedicated week marks a new stage in the Group's commitment:
"Like all gaming establishments in France, we are subject to strict regulations. We comply with them rigorously and seriously, not only because it is our legal duty, but above all because we believe that protecting our players is an integral part of our mission. More than just a commitment, Responsible Gaming is at the heart of our strategy. This first Responsible Gaming Week is an opportunity to strengthen the dissemination of information, to prevent and thus reduce situations that encourage the development of excessive gaming."
A commitment at the heart of the Group's strategy
At Barrière, Responsible Gaming is based above all on a relationship of trust between the player and the casino. The Group's gaming establishments are first and foremost places of entertainment and enjoyment. It is with this desire to preserve the festive spirit of gaming that the Barrière Group is actively committed to Responsible Gaming.
The challenge is clear: to prevent risky behavior and support those who wish to do so, thanks to the support of teams trained in listening and advising.
Responsible Gaming at Barrière in figures (2024):
With more than 8 million visitors annually to its establishments, the Barrière Group welcomes a vast majority of customers who come to enjoy a recreational, peaceful and controlled gaming experience.
For situations requiring special attention, the Responsible Gaming system in place enables the proactive and compassionate detection, support, and referral of affected customers:
Nearly 2,250 at-risk players identified;
1,900 players received voluntary support;
1,700 Voluntary Access Restrictions were put in place;
200 players were referred for a national gambling ban;
60 people were referred to specialist care facilities.
This commitment is part of a comprehensive Responsible Gaming strategy implemented across the entire Barrière group. For more information, please see our Responsible Gaming press kit attached.
