This renewal marks a new phase in the partnership between the city of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage and Barrière, which began in 2004. By taking over the operation of the Casino du Palais—a historic establishment opened in 1903—Barrière has supported its development, transforming it into one of the iconic landmarks of the Opal Coast and a leading destination for entertainment in France.
As early as the 1920s, the establishment experienced spectacular growth by attracting French and British patrons, to the point that by 1927 it had become France’s top-grossing casino, enabling the city to finance major infrastructure projects.
The site even inspired a story in world literature: Ian Fleming drew inspiration from the Casino de la Forêt to create the setting for Casino Royale, the first novel in the James Bond series. A nod to the elegance and unique atmosphere of Le Touquet, which is also carried forward by the Hôtel Westminster, a historic institution of the destination.
An ambitious modernization project for a historic site
As part of this new DSP, Barrière will undertake a transformation program,
designed to meet new needs, enhance Le Touquet’s appeal to tourists, and
enrich the experience offered to its visitors:
● Complete overhaul of the customer journey;
● Renovation of the gaming floor with the installation of new slot machines and electronic gaming stations, incorporating the latest technological innovations;
● Creation of a new bar and a new restaurant, designed as open, welcoming spaces connected to local life;
● Continuation of a high-quality cultural program, with at least eight annual shows organized at the Palais des Congrès.
These improvements aim to transform the Casino into a reinvented space—more open, more comfortable, and
resolutely forward-looking.
